Individual Counseling
Using a present-centered and body-aware approach, I aid clients in restructuring core beliefs. In this way, getting “unstuck” is not limited to talk and intellectual analysis, but rather becomes a journey that unfolds through your direct and felt experience in the here and now.
I have specific training in Gestalt Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), The Enneagram, and mindfulness-based approaches. Specialties include helping clients move from anxiety to trust, from depression/isolation to connection, and from self-destructive behavior towards self-esteem and self-actualization.
I believe in my clients’ innate inner wisdom, and challenge them to take ownership over their process. My style is compassionate, curious, and honest. My work is influenced by a strong theoretical understanding of attachment, trauma, and neuroplasticity. I hold the highest regard for the relationships (be they friends, partners, coworkers, or family) that are significant in your life. Our work is not a replacement for meaningful connections outside of therapy but rather a bond that travels alongside them, and allows you to move away from old patterns and dynamics into deeper and fuller ways of connecting and finding nourishment.
I create a space for you to develop yourself – body, mind, and spirit. Potential areas for change include:
- Worry, anxiety, or fear
- Depression and feelings of isolation
- Indecision/Lack of Direction
- Self-destructive behavior
- Anger/aggression (towards self and other)
- Grief and Loss
- Transitions
- Shut down or cut off from your feelings
- ‘Self medication’ with food, alcohol, or other substances
- Trauma
- Coping Skills
- Low Self Esteem/Shame
- Relationship Issues
- Family-of-origin Issues
- Spiritual Growth
Couples Counseling
With couples I employ an eclectic approach, drawing most heavily from attachment based perspectives and The Enneagram. I work with couples to find the root of relationship distress and provide a detailed map to the resolution of patterns and conflicts that undermine a relationship.
Often a secure bond allows couples to resolve the walls of distance and blame and begin to grow in love and trust once again. At other times couples choose to part ways - but learn to do so in a conscious and caring way that honors the love and growth brought from the relationship. Ultimately, I provide a safe space for you to work towards your truth, and find a life that supports you both the most.
I work with couples facing a variety of difficulties.
Issues include:
- Feeling unimportant, abandoned, or unloved
- Feeling untrusting or betrayed
- Building a sense of 'I' within the 'We'
- Lack of affection, intimacy, or sex
- Feeling disrespected, nagged, or criticized
- Recurring fights with no resolution
- Feeling worn out and walking on eggshells
- Withdrawing/distancing with silent resentment, hurt, or loneliness
- Feeling as though you will never be “enough” for your partner
- Rebuilding after an affair
- Intercultural issues
- Questioning if you chose the right partner
